Franklin Ramón Chang Diaz, Sc.D. is a Costa Rican-American mechanical engineer, physicist and former NASA astronaut. Dr. Chang Diaz became an American citizen in 1977. He is a veteran of seven Space Shuttle missions, making him the record holder as of 2014 for the most spaceflights (a record he shares with Jerry L. Ross).
The Hidden Garden Art Gallery and the Tres Amigos Realty office in Playas del Coco have teamed up to promote local Costa Rican artists. With permission from the artists, the Tres Amigos Pacifico Retail Village office has become one of only a few display sites where you can view the artwork away from the gallery. All of the art pieces are for sale. We are proud to be able to showcase the great talent we have here in Guanacaste.
Palo Verde National Park
Normally tourists visiting Guanacaste go to "Palo Verde" by boat. Actually the Palo Verde Tours almost never go into Palo Verde National Park. They enter from the Western side of the Tempique River and travel by boat into private reserve land but never go into Palo Verde National Park.
Costa Rica is the most democratic country in Latin America, which includes Mexico, Central and South America according to the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
ÑAMPI, also known as taro
Ñampi is a root vegetable that must be cooked well and shouldn't be eaten raw. In its raw form, it contains calcium oxalate which, when ingested, can cause kidney stones. When boiled, it's best to put in a pinch of baking soda to help leach out the calcium oxalate from the vegetable.

A few days ago one of the great men that ever walked the face of the earth died - Nelson Mandela. The vast majority of us have heard at some point in our lives his name and that is not a secret. But who was Nelson Mandela? For many of us we have heard of his enigma but his full story remained somewhat of a secret. It was not until a few days ago while watching a program on the history channel that I could fully understand who he really was and the meaning of this great man and great human being - a gentle giant without bitterness and with a spirit of Justice.
