Is there a less stressful way to live these days?

The quick answer to this question is YES!  However, I want to breakdown this question a little bit to understand what life is actually about.  It seems that I was conditioned in America to work all week, get a paycheck on friday, pay the bills, and go back to work on Monday.  By the end of this routine I found that I didn't have much extra money.  Not to mention that I was always stressed out as well.  I found I was stressed whether it was the traffic in the morning, the co-workers, the customers, traffic in the evening, finding out I had to work late, or anything that was messed up at home.  Every year the same holiday would come around and I would look around and realize I was simply another year older without much to show for it.

I believe this is even more of an issue for the baby boomer generation.  For decades they worked longer hours, and gave a lot of their time to the company they worked for.  The case could be made that looking back it is possible that they worked too much.  But even simply typing the idea of working too much creates a feeling of a little guilt.

What I have found since moving to Playas del Coco, Costa Rica, is that everything still works out in the end.  The difference is, I am never stressed, and people are much happier than where I came from.  You can still work on your passion and get things done.  You can work on your own schedule and make money, but it's everything in between that is so much sweeter.  The people you meet are happy to live here.  The tourists that you meet are happy because they are on vacation.  You begin to appreciate the afternoons because the sunset turns the sky fire orange and later a deep purple everyday.  It is amazing how liberating it is to truly do what you want to do and not feel guilty that you are not miserable like so many other people.

I used to sit in an office every afternoon and never enjoyed the sunset.  I would be in traffic until it was dark, and would spend a few hours in my house preparing a meal and cleaning up after dinner.  Then it was off to bed so I could start the rat race all over again the next day.

It's just not like that down here.  You can change your life and live the way you always dared to dream about.  Just know that you don't have to feel guilty when you get deep into your beach daydream.  That's just the "hurry up" stressful North American culture trying to keep you in line.  So come down to Playas del Coco, Playa Ocotal, Playa Hermosa, or Playa Panama. It is actually a pretty easy flight down to the Liberia airport (LIR).  The beach is a quick 20 minute drive from the terminal.  What are you waiting for.... Your new life awaits.
